directions to Glens Falls Rec. Center Rink

Hi All,

Here are some abbreviated directions to the Glens Falls rink.

Take Route 30N through Dorset towards Granville NY.

Take Route 22 N towards Ft. Ann and Lake George.

Just past the Comstock Prison, take Route 4 S to Ft. Ann.

In Ft. Ann, take a right onto Route 149 toward Lake George.

At the end of Route 149, take a left onto Route 9 SOUTH toward Glens Falls.

About 4 traffic lights past Aviation Road, look for Crandall Park on your right. Take a right onto Fire Road and the rink will be visible on your right (actually address is supposedly 1 Miller Place).

Thanks!
Liz

U14 Friday practice - 12/19

Hi All,

You may be confused about Friday's practice (I know I was!). I got the email from Karen Grabher on the Brent Hill Clinic, as I'm sure you did too. This clinic will take place during our regular practice time and take the place of the regular practice, but should not be considered optional! It is a great opportunity for the girls.

See you at the rink on Friday!!

Hi, U-14ers -
Bad news about Saturday's game, but we have something else you can do with your family.  On Saturday, beginning at 5:30, the East Dorset Fire Department is holding a spagetti dinner to benefit the Severance Family.  Please consider bringing your family to this very worthwhile event.  If you would like to help out or donate anything, please contact Tammy King (Emelie's cousin) at 362-4383.
Thanks!  See you at the rink,

Thanks Liz! We really appreciate everything yer doing. And FYI, my job title (in addition to teacher), is a coordinator. I know what it takes to coordinate all of this stuff, so it is very much appreciated. Like me, I recommend that you negotiate a seven figure contract*, hire 6 full time professionals**, get an administrative assistant***, and schedule a vacation from April through October****. And a company car*****. If you need an agent let me know.

Dan

*My seven figure contract includes a decimal point.
** Staff takes up as much of my time as students.
***THAT would be sweet!
****You DO get a vacation from April through October. Quit complaining.
*****Yeah sure. It cost me $9.00 at the car wash after that trip to Waterbury. Get back to work coordinating!

U14 game in Waterbury 11/22

Hello All!

Tomorrow (Saturday) we have a game against Harwood up in Waterbury (at the Ice Center of Washington West). It is probably our longest trek, but I think it's good to get it done before the snow really flies!

It is approximately a 2 1/2 hour drive. We (the coaches and I) will meet at Riley Rink at 7:30am to caravan up to Waterbury. Any players who need rides should meet us at that time.

Anyone who is driving, here are the directions from I-89 (to get to I-89, I usually go to Killington, then head up Route 100 and branch off towards Randolph on Route 12). The actual street address of the rink is 546 River Road in Waterbury - do NOT use mapquest - it will send you across the river to the wrong River Road (believe me - I did this 2 years ago by mistake!)

From the South: I-89 north to Rt-100 (exit 10). Turn left on Rt-100 and proceed west approx. 0.4 mile to Main St. (US-2). Turn left on Main St. (US-2) and proceed south approx. 1.25 miles to River Rd. (just before going over the bridge). Bear left on River Rd. (toward the convenience store/gas station). Continue straight (keep store on your left). This is the access road to arena.

See you at practice tonight!

Liz

RE: U14 hockey this week November 10 - 16

A quick note to all:

Friday night’s practice starts at 5:45 p.m. (not 6:00 p.m.). The U-12/U14 coaches have opted for the 15 minutes of extra ice time versus having the rink make new ice.

Sorry for the late notice. No problem at all if you cannot get there before 6:00 p.m.

Thank you,

U14 game - Saturday after Thanksgiving?

Hi All,

U14 has a game slot on Saturday November 29 (the Saturday after Thanksgiving). I am trying to get a "head count" on how many players will be available to play on that day. Please let me know if your family will be here on that Saturday.

ALSO, I just got an email from Middlebury canceling our game on Sunday November 30 (they do not have enough players to field a team that day). Please cross that game off your schedule!

See you at the rink!
Take care,
Liz

Re: U14 hockey this week - November 3 - 9

Hey Folks, I have a favor to ask. BBA is having a faculty vs. students hockey game this coming Saturday, hosted by Riley Rink. Each faculty member on the roster has pledged to raise $100.00, all of which will go towards the BBA Girls and Boys Hockey Programs. As a faculty player I am looking for sponsors, so any donations would be greatly appreciated (I have to come up with $100, one way or the other. And since BBA students sharpen my skates, and make my food at the rink, I need to keep in good standing). Please bear in mind that BBA has extended invitations to all 8th graders on the U14 team to practice with the BBA varsity girls, at no cost to our players. This is something BBA has done for several years, so an acknowledgment from our team would be a gesture fitting and appreciated.

Please respond via email to me, at this email address or at dflanagan@burrburton.org, or when I next see you. Thank you very much, and I'll see you Tuesday at 6:15.

Dan

U14 Street Hockey!!!

Hi All!

Last week's street hockey was such a success, that we're doing it again! We will meet at the rink on Saturday October 18 from 11am to 12noon.

REMINDER - Hockey practice starts next week! Believe it or not, the ice is going to be up this weekend and the girls will have their first practice on Tuesday October 21 from 7 to 8pm. For the very first practice, you might want to be at the rink a little early (say 6:15 or so) since it's been a while since the girls have put on all their gear. Now is the time to make sure the skates still fit!

Practices will be on Tuesdays and Fridays each week (except holiday weeks). I will send out a reminder email at the beginning of each week to let you know the practice and game schedule for that week.

See you at the rink!
Take care,
Liz

U-14 season starts Saturday

To:  All U-14 players

From: The coaches (Jay, Dan, and Bob)

We will hold our first Saturday practice this coming Saturday (October 11, 2008) at 11:00 a.m. at Riley Rink (meet outside at the roller rink). We will be done at 12:00.

Our plan is to kick things off with a street hockey game.

Players should bring the following:

  1. Hockey stick (an old one if you have it – I will have some extra street hockey sticks available)
  2. Hockey gloves
  3. Hockey helmet (up to Mom and Dad)
  4. Mouth guard (up to Mom and Dad)
  5. Shin guards optional (you may want to wear shorts with soccer socks and soccer shin guards)
  6. Sneakers
  7. Water bottle

If you want to purchase a street hockey stick I believe that Dick's Sporting goods has them (I am not sure about Real Sports). Dick's also has street hockey blades for $3.00 if you have an old shaft.

Our plan will be to hold off ice practice every Saturday (weather permitting) when we do not have a game. The time may change depending on preference.

I hope to see everyone on Saturday.

Please call if you have any questions.

Thank you,

RE: SUMMER ICE!

The Ice is IN!  Staff will be putting the finishing touches on over the next few days.

We have a surprize at the center ice dot.  We invite you to come down and check it out!

Please contact me if your girls are interested in any of Riley Rink's Hockey Camps. I can assist you in selecting the programs with the best fit for your daughter(s). There are some available slots in most programs, but time is running out!  Summer is a great time to brush up on some skills, get a jump on next seasion or just stay in shape for the upcoming winter season.  Best of all it's a darn COOL place to hang out on a hot, hazy and humid summer day.  Please stop by or give a call.  We can get you signed up over the phone if time doesn't allow you to get to the rink.

Skate sharpening will be in full swing next week.  Most of the staff has been working overtime to bring you the best ice in New England, so they will not be able to sharpen this week.

Thanks so much!  See you at the rink!

Summer Ice is here!!! Come cool off...
