Fw: Southern Vermont Girls Hockey Summer Program

Do you want an easy to attend, once a week, low cost, summer instructional and game program for your girl hockey player?

If you said YES...  it's coming.  Here are some of the details, official stuff coming next week.  Karen/Liz - can you please forward to U-14's?

Manchester, Rutland and Brattleboro coaches met and we are going to do a once per week, skills/drills and games program this summer.  Sessions will alternate between Riley and Rutland.  Girls from Rutland, Manchester, Brattleboro (and maybe some other rinks too) are expected to attend.  We estimate that we will have at least 30 players...  probably more like 40.  Players will be split by ability level, not by age, so that the kids can get ability appropriate instruction and development.  Two levels - Selects (advanced) and Futures (developing).

For the first 15 minutes of the weekly 1 hour session, the kids will work on skills appropriate for their development level, and then participate in full ice scrimmages where they can put to use what they've learned.  There will be 3 coaches from Rutland, 3 (or more) from Manchester and 2 from Brattleboro.  Plus we will have a weekly guest coaches from the high schools (coaches, players).

Program is open to birth years 94 - 98.  Sessions will start on June 29th and end on August 10th (7 weeks).  Each week your child will either be at Rutland on Saturdays at 9 AM, or in Manchester on Sundays at 4:45 PM.  Your location will alternate between the two rinks each week.  This will be a not for profit program with volunteer coaches, and we realize because it's summer that no one will make all sessions - so costs will be reasonable (under $100!!).

Given the number of girls expected to participate, the number of coaches committing to this program, and the reasonable cost to you - this should be a well attended, productive program for the players.

Stay tuned for more news and registration information.  But plan on going to the rink one day per weekend for those 7 weeks (or as many as you can make).

Again, can someone please pass on to the U14's?

Thanks.
Gary
