Re: Hotel Reservations for VT State Tournament (Resend)

Liz - Thanks for resending.  Only 9 rooms have been booked as of Friday.  We've blocked out 27 total and they are being held for 9 more days.

Hi All -
I'm re-sending this email for the State Tournament. You should call to book your hotel room before January 15.
I know that we will be missing some players - so far I'm aware of Corvino, Montague, Salsgiver and Lowe. Is this correct? Will everyone else be there?
Thanks,  Liz

I have arranged hotel accomodations for the Vermont State Tournament for both the U-12 and U-14 teams.  Price is $65/night, including breakfast.  You will likely be staying for two nights, or $130 plus $13 tax.

The tournament will be held in Highgate, VT on Feb 16th and 17th.  Although Highgate is 40 minutes north of Burlington, there are very few hotels/motels available north of the city.  After many years of doing this, we've found that the University Inn in Burlington (adjacent to the University Mall) is the most convenient accomodation.

CALL BEFORE JANUARY 15, 2008 TO SECURE YOUR ROOM.  I would recommend calling now.  If you don't make the reservation by then, price and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's what you do:

1.  Call the University Inn at 802-264-4114.
2.  Say "Reservation"; give them Group Code:  Northshire Girls Hockey.
3.  Book for 2 nights starting Friday night, Feb 15, with check-out on Sunday Feb 17.
4.  Do this no later than Jan 15, 2008.

Information about the hotel:
  • Each room has 2 double beds.  4 can stay in one room if you don't mind being cozy.
  • There is an indoor pool.
  • There are two buildings in the complex - one is Comfort Inn, the other University Inn.  They are same ownership - they share reception, breakfast area and pool.
  • You will be able to cancel your room or a room night right up to the week of the tournament, so book both nights now.
Information about the tournament:
  • We do not yet have schedules.
  • First two games are usually on Saturday, but sometimes they'll have a Friday night game.
  • Two losses and the team is out of the tournament.  Which means it could end on Saturday.
  • If your team makes it to the finals and depending on win-loss records, it's possible that the championship game will be on Monday or Tuesday night.  Be prepared for a 3rd night at the Inn, or a drive back up.  But there's no way to know if you have to do that until Sunday.  Just be prepared for that eventuality.
Rules for Our Stay (so there are no surprises):
  • Players will have a 10 PM in-bed curfew.
  • No swimming on the day of games (only after all games for the day are through).
  • Players will observe healthy nutritional practices throughout the weekend.
  • There will be playing time repercussions for violations.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
